Dr. Schilling was invited to present a talk on peri-implantitis to the Dane County Dental Society.

Her presentation on May 21, 2014 focused on the biologic complications of osseointegrated implants. Peri-implantitis, the presence of inflammation and bone loss around implants, is a disease with similarities to periodontitis; however, its rapid progression means clinicians must focus on prevention and early diagnosis of these lesions. Risk factors, pathogenesis, and treatment options for implants with peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis were explored in her address.
